Abstract

Polypyrrole with lotus leaf shape and hollow sphere structure is synthesized as an active material and absorbing agent of sulfur for lithium-ion battery. The charge/discharge characteristics of sulfur-polypyrrole composite cathode have been investigated at different current rates. Due to the effective entrapment of polysulfide intermediates by the special structures of polypyrrole, the composites exhibit a high cycling stability with the coulombic efficiency of 92.02%, 92.31% and 94.31% after 100 cycles at the current rates of 0.2 C, 0.5 C and 1 C, respectively.
