Abstract
- The article examines the possible role of viral neuronotropism in the pathogenesis of Murray Valley encephalitis (MVE). Topics covered include history of encephalitis outbreaks, neuronallocalization of viral antigens and viral RNA and the conclusion that MVE virus is neurotropic and that neuronal viral cytolysis plays an important role in its pathogenesis.
