Abstract

The article explores the trial and execution of humanitarian, homosexual and Irish Nationalist Roger Casement for treason in 1916, highlighting its impact on politics in Great Britain. A profile of Casement is provided who was a diplomat and played an important role in the Irish liberation movement. Also discussed are the execution of Irish volunteer Thomas Kent by the British for shooting policemen in September 2015.
