Doubt cast on cancer drug target MTH1.

The article focuses on a new study by researcher Alessia Petrocchi and coworkers, which suggests that blocking the cancerkilling abilities of reported MTH1 inhibitors may not be due to shutting down the enzyme and it may not be a deathblow to cancer cells. According to the study, a compound exsts that does not actually kill the cancer cells but potently inhibits MTH1 activity in them.
