- Reports on the presence of olivine, a mineral that undergoes rapid transformation into other minerals when exposed to liquid water, in Mars. Findings of the Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration; Research conducted by Todd M. Hoefen of the U.S. Geological Survey and Philip R. Christensen of the Arizona State University in Tempe on the field; Region in Mars where olivine is abundant.
