Abstract

The article discusses research concerning the major role of nerve fibres in prurigo nodularis (PN). It examines the intraepidermal nerve fibre density (IENFD) of PN at various stages which is reduced in lesional and inter-lesional prurigo nodularis. Also investigated is the skin biopsies from representative lesional and non-lesional areas and healed skin in patients with PN.
