Abstract
- Introduces several essays published in a 2000 issue of the journal "Jewish History," focused on the Jewish consciousness of existing in separate and concentric registers of time. Interrelationship between religion and temporality, particularly between various Jewish temporal sensibilities and those embraced by Christianity; Analysis of conflicting rabbinic notions of progress, particularly their impact on specific halachic principles; Jewish notions of the endtime as they conflicted with those of Christians in early-modern German lands.
