Cervical arthroplasty compares favourably to ACDF at half-decade follow-up.

In this article, the author reflects on a research related to treatment of cervical radiculopathy by anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). Topics discussed include frequent adjacent-level degeneration as compared to arthroplasty, satisfactory results shown for cervical arthroplasty in clinical trials, and cervical fusion expected to be supplanted by cervical radiculopathy.
