Abstract

Discusses synthetic routes to azarcarborane clusters from the reactions of nitriles with the isoelectronic anions, nido-5,6-C[sub2]B[sub8]H[sub11] and nido-B[sub10]H[sub13]. Occurrence of hydroboration of the nitrile; Inclusion of cafe frameworks containing two six-membered open faces that may be derived from a bicapped hexagonal antiprism by removal of two non-adjacent five-coordinated vertices; Confirmation of a single-crystal X-ray study.
