Abstract

The article examines how the poor physical condition of many public school buildings in Detroit, Michigan may cause the school system to become insolvent and prevent the city's recovery from bankruptcy. It goes on to report that many teachers working for Detroit Public Schools have conducted protests or called out sick to force school shutdowns.
