Abstract
- The article discusses the study that determined the difference in delay in discharge for patients over the age of 75 with a tracheotomy to patients with a tracheotomy aged below 75. Findings discussed include average of 14.39 days delay in discharge for elderly group compared to 3.17 days for younger patients, and statistical correlation of hospitalisation duration to achievement of tracheotomy self-care, whether a feeding tube us used, or if relocation at discharge is required.
