Abstract
- Mechanisms underlying the light emission of the luminous fungus Mycena chlorophos are unknown. A component, which activated the bioluminescence of the living gills of M. chlorophos , was isolated from the mature M. chlorophos pilei and chemically characterized. The bioluminescence-activating component was found to be trans - p -hydroxycinnamic acid. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
