Chronic kidney disease: Treatment of hepatitis C virus infection in patients with CKD.

The article discusses data from phase III C-SURFER study that suggests the safety and effectivity of the all-oral combination of grazoprevir plus elbasvir as therapy for patients with Hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype one infection and stage 4-5 chronic kidney disease (CKD). Findings discussed include virological response achieved by dual therapy of NS3/4A protease inhibitor grazoprevir and NS5A inhibitor elbasvir without ribavirin, and no difference in adverse effects' frequency and severity.
