Abstract
- The capture of stellar mass compact objects by supermassive black holes is one of the primary classes of sources for LISA observations. I give a brief overview the physics of capture and the contributing stellar population. I briefly discuss plausible rates and contributing populations, and then review some of the uncertainties and open issues in estimating the true astrophysical rate and distribution of merging objects. © 2003 American Institute of Physics [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
