Abstract

The article examines the some of the possible causes of drought in East Africa during the period April-June 2014 using the Variable Infiltration Capacity model. Topics covered include the influence of warm Eastern African air temperatures, reduction in rainfall associated with intense West Pacific Index and the effect of anthropogenic warming in reducing soil moisture, evapotranspiration and rainfall.
