The article discusses the growing problem of animal wastes in the U.S. not being processed effectively which may cause contamination on nearby groundwater. It says that the cause may have been the shrinking population of hog farms from more than 25,000 down to about 2,000 with the population of the hogs nearly tripled. It also mentions that health problems may surface for humans living near hog farm such as asthma and other breathing problems.
