Abstract

The proliferation of papers on energy demand modeling has offered different dimensions both in terms of methodology and estimation. While this development has strengthened our understanding of the subject, it may render the identification of gaps in the literature arduous for future research. Thus, this study sets out to document some emerging issues that seem to have engendered new directions on energy demand modeling ranging from asymmetric price responses, time varying demand parameters, triangulation analyses to seasonal and climate change effects. It is hoped that access to this review complemented with the previous ones will facilitate the comprehension of the extant literature as well as areas of future research in energy demand modeling.
