Abstract
- The article offers information on a constitutional crisis going on in the House of Lords due to defeat of the motion to reject government's new tax credit regulations. Topics discussed include Conservatives pledging cuts in the welfare bill, cuts not being implemented in the Finance Bill but by regulations made under the Tax Credits Act 2002 and conservatives complaining of progressive erosion of constitutional restraints causing executive despotism and elective dictatorship.
