Sterols in Laurencia obtusa var. pyramidata (Hudson) J. V. Bory ex. J. Agardh.

The sterol content of Laurencia obtusa var. pyramidata (Hudson) J. V. Bory ex. J. Agardh collected from Igneada, in the western part of the Black Sea coast of Turkey, was analyzed. They were cholest-5-en-3-ol (cholesterol), β-sitosterol, ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3- ol (ergosterol), 24-norcholesta-5,22(E)-dien-3β-ol, cholest-5,22(E)-dien-3β-ol, ergosta- 5,24(28)-dien-3β-ol, 27-norergosta-5,22(E)-dien-3β-ol, ergosta-5, 22(E)-dien-3-ol, 23(S)- methylcholesterol, 23(S)-ethylcholesterol.
