Abstract
- Provides insights on the redefinitions taking place in the concept of the feminine which compels the masculine to be redefined as well, thus altering the relationship between the sexes. Definitions of the terms "female," "feminine" and "womanly"; Attitudes nourished by the women's movements; Backlash against the silence in the resentment of the Equal Rights Amendment; View that if a woman's body is a "symbol of creative and regenerative life" in art, the symbol is not altogether absent from the approaches of man and woman in real life; Contention that the feminine is being made the enemy of the female and the womanly; Challenge to homosexuality presented by the gay movement; Men's task of restoring women to some pedestal and bring reverence to their approaches.
