The Big Three Autografts--and the Allograft Alternatives.

The article presents views of professor Lars Engebretsen at meeting of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine in 2015 on consideration when choosing appropriate tendon for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Topics discussed include no use of bone-patellar tendon-bone (BPTB) in younger orthopedic patients and patients with history of patellar tendonitis, issue of tunnel widening in part tied to type of fracture fixation and low risk of infection with allografts.
