Abstract
- The article presents criticism on the 2010 film "Black Swan," directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Natalie Portman and Winona Ryder. Particular focus is given to the film's examination of the shadow self. Additional topics discussed include how the film examines the ballet "Swan Lake," self-reinvention and feminism, and disordered eating and melancholy.
