Abstract
- The article discusses the challenges facing airmen from the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Marines during the military campaign known as Operation Rolling Thunder during the Vietnam War. It describes the constraints placed upon U.S. pilots by the military and the administration of U.S. president Lyndon B. Johnson, operations over North Vietnam, and defenses employed by the North Vietnamese such as surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) and antiaircraft artillery (AAA).
