Abstract

The article reports on the options as of October 2015 and stakes ahead for technologies that will enable airlines to achieve all-weather precision landing. Topics include the global air transportation industry's slowness in terms of embracing new technology, the trend among airlines to land at aircraft at major airports in bad weather by putting the aircraft on autopilot, and the Instrument Landing System operated at Heathrown Airport to help with landing during low visibility.
