Abstract
- The article discusses events in New York City in 1989 which include the attack on Central Park jogger Trisha Meili by rapist Matias Reyes, the release of the film "Do the Right Thing" directed by Spike Lee, the attack and murder of black youth Yusef Hawkins by a mob of white youths, and the election of African American mayor David Dinkins.
