Abstract

The article presents a study that investigated whether the triglyceride-lowering effect of -93T/G lipoprotein lipase (LPL) promoter polymorphism is observed in African Americans during pregnancy. Topics discussed include hypertriglyceridemia as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease and several pregnancy complications as well as genotyping being performed on woemn with uncomplicated pregnancies. Also mentioned are the study resuls such as frequncy of LPL variants and bivariate correlations.
