Reducing Risks.

With Boeing Co.'s completion last week of the third certification test flight of its prototype fuel inerting system, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration moved closer to its goal of eliminating the risk of fuel tank explosions on transport aircraft. Boeing Co. completed design requirements and applied for certification of its onboard Flammability Reduction System, which was a more cost-effective solution than previous, prohibitively priced ground-based inerting systems.
