This article presents features of the September 2003 issue of the periodical "archrecord2." In Design, it features Thread Collective, a firm with partners who not only ponder the interplay of their three principals, but have also designed a space specifically intended for play. In Live, Oren Safdie, the son of Moshe, left the world of architecture to write plays. Gita Nandan, Elliott Maltby, and Mark Mancuso — together known as Thread Collective — have occasionally made efforts to explain their firm's name, and when asked about it, they attempt to do so again. Their clients, so far, have come mostly through word of mouth. And so far, they have mostly been women, according to Nandan.
