Building Block Controlled Cd(II) Coordination Polymers from One Dimension Chain to Three Dimension Network.

Abstract

Three new N-(5-amino-2-methylphenyl)-4-(3-pyridyl)-2-pyrimidineamine Cd(II) coordination polymers, namely, {[Cd(AMPPA)(HO)]·(NO)·HO} ( 1), {[Cd(AMPPA)(ipa)]·2HO} ( 2) and {[Cd(AMPPA)(Hbtc)]·2HO} ( 3) (AMPPA = N-(5-amino-2-methylphenyl)-4-(3-pyridyl)-2-pyrimidineamine, Hipa = isophthalic acid and Hbtc = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid) have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that complex 1 exhibits one dimension (1D) coordination polymers when only the AMPPA ligand was employed. With the introduction of the building blocks (Hipa and Hbtc) into the reaction system of 1, complexes 2 with 2D layer and 3 with 3D networks were isolated, respectively. The effect of the building blocks in the construction of complexes 1- 3 has been discussed. In addition, all complexes display strong luminescence in the solid state.
