Abstract: The article discusses the legal aspects of the charter schools in the U.S. and discusses the growth in the charter schools as a prominent educational reform strategy nationwide. Topics discussed include issues concerning the quality and accountability of charter schools in California; justification for a sociologic approach to such schools; and bureaucratic structures and processes of charter school.
