Abstract
- The article explores the power of Biblical patriarch Joseph in Josephus's account of his story in the book of Genesis. It analyzes the unforgiving and compassionate responses by Joseph and his brothers to the pain experienced by others. The account is recognized for showing the feelings and passions of characters in the Bible. Also discussed are Greek philosopher Aristotle's observations on the nature of pity.
