Abstract

The article discusses research which investigated link between forced expiratory volume (FEV) decline and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Topics explored include the use of data from the Framingham Offspring Cohort and the Lovelace Smokers Cohort studies, the research participant recruitment and screening process, and the baseline characteristics of subjects such as age and cigarette smoking history.
