Abstract

The debridement of wounds is a key aspect of wound healing. There are a number of different methods of wound debridement which the practitioner can opt for. A full wound and patient assessment is integral to ensure good clinical outcomes. This article addresses the different methods of debridement. It incorporates the TIME acronym and the wound-healing continuum as a tool that practitioners can use in their daily practice. Methods include larval therapy, sharp debridement, surgical intervention and topical applications.
