A SYSTEMS LENS ON EXTRAMARITAL AFFAIRS: COMMENTARY ON WINEK AND CRAVEN'S "HEALING RITUALS FOR COUPLES RECOVERING FROM ADULTERY"

The Winek and Craven paper offers an interesting possibility for discussing the intersection of theory and practice in marital therapy. These comments can be understood as both a distillation and partial extension of previously developed ideas (Moultrup, 1990). Experienced readers will recognize many of the ideas here as being extensions of the work of Bowen (Bowen, 1978). The fundamental focus on the dynamics of differentiation certainly are at the core of my comments, with extensions which are not part of the original Bowen theory.
