Abstract
- 40-year-old Manjit Singh came from Punjab, India, to Seattle in 1985. Then Singh lost his landscaping job and with it his health insurance. Because they are new immigrants, his wife and daughter are not eligible for state-subsidised insurance. Singh has recently started working as a town car driver but the job does not provide insurance and his take-home pay is too little for him to buy coverage on his own.
