Abstract
- The article presents a study which examined the perspective on the notions of vocation and altruism in nursing, particularly in Great Britain, as of September 2014. In the study, French philosopher Pierre Bourdieu's concepts of symbolic capital, field, and habitus were used to analyse the vocational and altruistic motivations of nurses. Based on the study, compassion, caring and commitment to nursing are very important to nurses.
