Abstract
- The author reflects on issues that affect the workforce planning in England's health service. He emphasizes that the government is to blame for the inadequate supply of qualified nursing staff as they commissioned few nursing courses from universities. He says that the move of the National Health Services on spending £1 billion a year on agency nurses and for managers to recruit staff from foreign lands shows the failure of those responsible for workforce planning in doing their task.
