Abstract
- Argues that the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is to be blame for the major air accidents in the nation in the 1960s. Events that led to the crashing of a Delta DC8 while landing at New Orleans in late March; Revelation that FAA had no safety regulations governing evacuation of airplanes before September 1963 when it issued a directive on the subject; Argument against the inadequacy of the grant-in-aid made available by the government for airport construction; Reasons cited by the U.S. government for not spending more on airplane safety and airports, including the Vietnam war.
