Abstract

Sustainability is a term which has taken an inflationary trend. This article discusses the question, how the supply of carbon- based raw materials can be ensured in the future without additional impact on nature. It is shown that a sustainability bridge structure should be based naturally on both pillars solar energy and CO2. Natural photosynthesis delivers biomass which could be raw material for the production of higher valued chemicals, while artificial photosynthesis delivers hydrocarbons and/or oxigenates from which fuels and basic chemicals can be produced.
