This paper discusses the theoretical foundation of a dominant neo-liberal model, relationship to key socio-economic issues and the impact onto the economic and social practice. It also discusses the success of the neoliberal economic model. The aim of the paper is to show that this problematic at the level of ideology is in the background of economic theory and practice. Based on the survey results, it is evident that the neoliberal development model differs significantly from the liberal thought and thought of Hayek, but in practice it is essentially characterized by dogmatism and ideology, which has repercussions on economic science. This subject is central in analysis of development of economic sectors that include maritime trade and transport, shipbuilding or fishery. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
