Abstract
- The article discusses the study that determined the tendency of complex animals to evolve toward larger sizes over time, known as Cope's rule, named after the late noted paleontologist Edward Drinker Cope, and the application of Cope's rule to marine animals, published in "Science" journal. Topics discussed include dataset largely compiled from "Treatise on Invertebrate Pleontology," and increase in body size attributed to preferential diversification of some organisms that were already larger.
