- The article states that credit card company American Express Co. (AmEx) was lifting restrictions that prohibited merchants accepting AmEx cards from steering customers to other credit card brands such as Visa Inc. or MasterCard Inc. following a February 2015 court ruling by U.S. District Judge Nicholas Garaufis that found AmEx's restrictions to be anticompetitive.
