Abstract
- The article discusses the ASHRAE Standard 170-2013 Ventilation for Health Care Facilities, which requires two levels of air filtration for patient care areas. The standard also requires HEPA filters for protective environments and isolation rooms designed for patient with high infection susceptibility. Also discussed is the use of ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) technology to inhibit microbial growth and limit transfer of infections in hospitals.
