Abstract

The article presents a case study of an eight-year-old female child with congenital cataract and an undiagnosed hemoglobinopathy. The study found that inspired-expired oxygen gap is an effective alternative method for oxygen saturation monitoring in patients with an undiagnosed hemoglobinopathy. The child underwent several diagnostic procedures such as electrocardiography, echocardiography and chest X-ray.
