Abstract
- Examines the conflict that arose between the National Broadcasting Co. Inc. (NBC) and the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) following the airing of the News documentary of NBC entitled "Pensions: The Broken Promise." Complaints filed by the Accuracy in Media against NBC for violating the Fairness Doctrine; Constitutionality of the FCC decision; Report that the FCC ordered NBC to balance what it considered the one-sided presentation of "Pensions" with a broadcast of opposing views; Assessment of the practical application of the Fairness Doctrine; Argument that the FCC's present chairman, Richard E. Wiley, to defend applications of the doctrine on a case-by-case basis.
