Abstract

The following article aims to understand the montage of photojournalism in the press, specifically focusing on the social-cultural and semiotic dimensions of different possible narrative models, when considering their legitimizing role in political-economic orders. The objective is to investigate if the photojournalistic montage is able to trigger a relational cognitive process in the reader that would allow the construction of alternative visibilities, questioning the fixed nature of knowledge. By pointing out the different temporalities in the news, it suggests that a hybrid photographic text could create cracks in the modern binary narrative of constant progress. Its empirical object is a feature on the 50 years of the Chinese Revolution and the success of the capitalist economic model by Brazilian newspaper Folha de S. Paulo. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
