Abstract
- The author recounts his experience of attending the 2015 gala event of the writers' organization PEN in New York City and discusses the controversy over the organization's decision to give one of its annual awards to the staff of the French satire magazine "Charlie Hebdo" for their courage in continuing to produce the magazine after the January 2015 fatal attack on its offices. Topics include his experiences as a comics author and defending offensive speech.
