Abstract
- This article discusses the main mechanisms by which the oxygen content of the blast and high gas pressure affect the smelting rate in a blast furnace. It is shown that oxygen enrichment of the blast - just as an increase in gas pressure in the furnace - is a means of intensifying the smelting operation. Oxygen enrichment of the blast accomplishes this by reducing the quantity of gases flowing inside the furnace. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
