Abstract

The article discusses research on the death of several bottlenose dolphins following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in April 2010. Researchers found that more than one in five dolphins that died in the Deepwater Horizon spill area and time frame had bacterial pneumonia. Lead pathologist of the research said that the lung lesions found on the dolphins were the most severe she has examined in 13 years.
