Abstract
- Numerical simulation is performed for subcooled flow boiling in a channel, which is applicable to thermal control for high-power devices. The bubble shape is tracked by a sharp-interface level-set method, which is modified to include the effect of phase change. The flow and thermal characteristics associated with bubble growth and collapse are investigated by solving the conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy in fluid region and the conduction equation in the solid region. The boiling heat transfer is quantified by varying the liquid subcooling and inlet velocity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
